About Me

I’m Cindy and I love food! I love to eat it and I love to cook it, especially with chopsticks. I’ve been cooking for a little over 10 years. Honestly, before that, I enjoyed eating food more than cooking it. But then I had kids.

My family are my inspiration in the kitchen. I make whatever they want and whenever they want food. My kids (and husband!) are the reason that keeps my creativity going in the kitchen. When someone appreciates what I do in the kitchen, it truly makes me so happy.

My Netflix Appearance

The highlight of my kitchen life was being on Netflix’s Cook at all Costs. I am on episode 8, Best of Brunch. The show was indeed challenging and stressful. At the end of the day, I learned so much about myself working under pressure. It was so fun to be in front of a camera. Who knew I would ever make a TV appearance? I am so thankful for every opportunity.

Why I Cook with Chopsticks

I use chopsticks to eat anything at home from rice to sushi to noodles. But chopsticks can go beyond just eating because it makes the perfect cooking tool. Chopsticks can function like tongs and offer more precision and control when stir frying, grilling and deep frying. You can tell when your oil is ready by sticking a bamboo chopstick in the hot oil. If the oil bubbles on the chopstick, you are ready to deep fry. The super long chopsticks help prevent nasty burns when deep frying food because you are able to reach from a further distance. I also use it to dig up any small pieces that have sunk to the bottom of the pot.

Cooking noodles is easier with chopsticks. It doesn’t matter whether you are cooking spaghetti or ramen. Chopsticks dislodge noodles stuck to the pot. You can also use chopsticks to easily take out a single strand of noodle to check for doneness. When it comes to tossing noodles (or even salad for that matter!) chopsticks offer more control.

Not everything cooks at the same rate. Chopsticks allow me to pinpoint which bits need to be flipped or moved off to the side. It’s great when dealing with smaller pieces of food.

I use chopsticks to stir everything. Yes, even to stir my condensed milk in my coffee. It’s great for whisking eggs and whipping a vinaigrette too!

If you need to keep your fingers clean while snacking, make sure to pick up some sticks before you dive into a bag of chips.

But what about baking? I love to bake and I use chopsticks to flatten the top of measuring cups. Also, I use it to take out broken egg shells or to find hidden lumps of flour.

Chopsticks are the ultimate weapon in my kitchen!
